Welcome the autumn breeze and add a couple of dates to your diary with some new additions to Lancaster City Council’s programme of guided cycle rides.
Welcome the autumn breeze and add a couple of dates to your diary with some new additions to Lancaster City Council’s programme of guided cycle rides.
On Sunday 5th October, the council’s Cycling Demonstration Town Team (CDT) is inviting you to enjoy the ‘Rivers and Villages’ cycle ride which follows the lanes and byways of the district, stopping at Conder Green, Galgate and Caton.
The ride covers approximately 20 miles and includes on and off road riding, as well as a few hills! Don’t forget to bring a drink and a snack.
On Sunday 19th October, following the success of April's Birding by Bike, anyone who has a passion for nature has the opportunity to explore the wildlife of the River Lune.
Come along and see which of our resident species have returned from their travels this autumn and are settling back into our estuaries and shores from their Arctic breeding grounds.
Keep an eye out en route for exciting birds of prey such as peregrine falcon, merlin and sparrowhawk.
The ride will take a couple of hours and is aimed at beginners as well as those with some birdwatching experience. There will be a number of scheduled stops along the way with other impromptu stops in the event of an unexpected visitor.
Don't forget to bring your binoculars.
Both bike rides begin at the Millennium Bridge at 11am – everyone welcome free of charge.
