Organised by Lancaster City Council, We Do Like to be Beside the Sea attracted people from far and wide.
Morecambe Visitor Information Centre reported a bumper weekend with nearly 2,000 people passing through its doors, four times as many as on an average summer weekend.
They came to see a packed programme of traditional seaside fun and frolics, music and daredevil antics, which was complemented by old favourites like the RAF Battle of Britain aircraft displays and the Bradford to Morecambe historic vehicle rally.
One of the highlights to remember was the Fireworks Extravaganza on Saturday night, which lit up the sky over the bay with a show lasting over 22 minutes.
The entertainment marquees helped create the seaside holiday atmosphere which was enjoyed by millions in the resorts heyday with acts such as The Pierotters seaside shows, maritime mayhem with Inner State Theatre Co, Les Femmes Fatal Cabaret (a risqué collision of glamour and incompetent knife throwing), Jones and Barnard's Variety Show and amazing sand sculptures.
Taffy Thomas's series of storytelling events proved particular popular, with 200 people taking the time to hear his Lakeland tales and stories of the sea.
This year's event was supported by Volker Stevin, KFC and the Station Pub (Spirit Group Ltd).
The council is also grateful for the support of traders from Morecambe's Festival Market.
