Star of the recent critically acclaimed BBC4 documentary 'How the West Was Lost`, Edinburgh Fringe favourite and Perrier Award winner, Rich Hall, is back on tour this Autumn and will be performing at the Platform on Thursday September 25.
In the first half of the show, Rich will be performing in his usual style as the grouchy , deadpan comic genius and once again, back by popular demand, his alter ego, the redneck jailbird character Otis Lee Crenshaw, will be let out of jail for the second half of the show.
Looking like a Pearl Jam roadie, Rich is a master of absurdist irony – he particularly likes to lay into Americans and life across the Pond at every opportunity. As Rich Hall the stand up, he has visited Edinburgh Fringe Festival several times and has performed at the major comedy clubs in the UK and around the world. He is well known in the US for appearing in and writing for 'The David Letterman Show' - for which he won an Emmy award.
In 1998, Rich created the character Otis Lee Crenshaw, a redneck jailbird from Tennessee who has been married seven times, all to women named Brenda. A singer-songwriter, Otis writes bourbon soaked, Tom Waitsian tunes and blends this with audience banter, producing a perfect fusion of music and comedy.
Since then, Rich Hall (and Otis) have been charming sell out audiences each year at the Edinburgh Festival, on tours throughout the UK, at several festivals in Australia including Adelaide and Melbourne and at London's famous Comedy Store.
At the 2000 Edinburgh Festival 'Rich Hall is Otis Lee Crenshaw` won the highly prestigious Perrier Award. Rich's TV work includes 'Rich Hall`s Cattle Drive', 'Rich Hall's Fishing Show' plus numerous appearances on BBC2 panel show 'QI' hosted by Stephen Fry. Rich has also written two books 'Otis Lee Crenshaw: I Blame Society' and 'Things Snowball', both published by Abacus Books.
The show will start at 8pm and tickets cost £15 from the Box Office on 01524 582803 or 01524 406108.
