Cycle away the school holidays

Local schoolchildren at a cycling training session
We are inviting youngsters to brush up on their cycling skills during April and May with a range of fun training sessions.
Lancaster City Council is inviting youngsters to brush up on their cycling skills during the April and May school holidays with a range of fun training sessions for all ages.
Learn to Cycle
Due to popular demand, the council is providing another ten Learn to Cycle sessions throughout the April and May school holidays. Aimed at children who use stabilisers or cannot yet ride, pedals (and stabilisers) are removed from the bikes so that the children can learn to balance before they progress to pedalling.
Children should bring along a roadworthy bike which allows the seat to be lowered so that your child can get his/her feet flat on the ground. All participants must be accompanied by an adult who may also be asked to assist.
Cycle Skills
Six to nine year olds will be able to brush up on their cycle skills with off-road fun sessions catering for all abilities.
Sessions are also on offer to 10 – 13 year olds which aim to give older children the skills and confidence needed for riding on the road. These sessions cover National Standards level 1 and all those who pass will receive a certificate. Open to all abilities.
On road cycle skills and bike ride!
Pass National Standards level 1 and why not put your new skills and confidence into practice by taking part in this on road cycling activity which covers some of National Standards level 2. Bring along a roadworthy bike, suitable clothes for being outdoors and some money or a snack for the refreshment break en route.
