Dutch progressive rock group 'Focus' to perform at The Platform
Top Dutch progressive rock band Focus will perform at the Platform on Saturday April 25.
With their unique style of progressive rock, Focus manifested themselves at the start of the 70s as the most successful and the most appreciated of the Dutch rock pop exports. The band had three major hits with ‘Hocus Pocus’, ‘Sylvia’ and ‘House of the King’ but like all good things, it couldn’t last and internal wrangling ended this legendary group.
The band are now back with a new line up of founder member and musical genius Thijs Van Leer on Hammond organ and flute with Pierre Van de Linden on drums, Bobby Jacobs on bass and the talented Niels van der Steenhoven on guitar.
A new Focus era has arrived. There is a rejuvenated passion in the new compositions but during the concert fans can expect to hear all the classic Focus tunes and they will be surprised at the strength and depth of the new material. ‘Our music is evolution, not revolution’ Thijs Van Leer once said about the music of Focus. Now the evolution is at full pace.
Focus will be supported by young Lancaster based rock band, Tantrum.
The concert will start at 8pm and tickets cost £15 from the box office on 01524 582803.
