New street numbers to be allocated

LANCASTER City Council is preparing to undergo a major exercise to provide all businesses on the White Lund Estate with new street numbers.

Over the years the estate has grown in size and is a thriving community of successful businesses.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the estate’s geography, the addition of new units has meant that street addresses have become confusing.

This is a particular problem for the emergency services, who need precise address details to attend an incident.

Customers can also find it confusing and difficult to locate the business they are trying to find.

To rectify this the city council will be allocating each business a new street number.

The process is due to start in September and should be completed by the end of the year.

Numbers will be allocated in increments of 10 to allow for the addition of new units in the future.

The majority of businesses should not face any difficulties as street names and post codes will in almost every case remain the same.

Should it be necessary to change any post codes the effected business will receive a personal visit to discuss ways of minimising any problems that may occur.

Businesses will be supplied with their new address by hand prior to it going “live” and this will also provide the opportunity to ensure that the correct company name is listed with the emergency services, local authorities and Royal Mail.

Any businesses requiring more information about the process should contact Clive Gregory on 01524 582355 or email cgregory@lancaster.gov.uk.
