Lifesaving qualification at Heysham Community Swimming Pool
HEYSHAM Community Swimming Pool will be running a NaRS (National Rescue Standard) pool lifeguard course in September.
The qualification is approved by the Health and Safety Executive and is recognised at swimming pools around the UK.
The course will run for four weekends starting on September 5 (Saturday and Sunday between 2.30pm and 8.30pm). The final session on September 27 will incorporate the examination leading to the NaRS qualification.
The cost of the course is £200 which includes the full course instruction, examination fees and course materials.
Places on the course are strictly limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis providing all candidates meet the specified course requirements, which include:
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Be able to surface dive and recover an item from the deepest part of the pool
- Be able to swim 50 metres in one minute
