Make space this Christmas with Bulky Matters

Make space with Bulky Matters
Buying new furniture or a new cooker in time for your festive family gathering or need to make room for more toys or that new shiny bike?
Why not give ‘Bulky Matters’ a call and make space for Christmas!
Bulky Matters was launched more than three years ago by Lancaster City Council in partnership with Furniture Matters (a local recycling, re-use and training charity), to introduce a whole new approach to dealing with bulky household waste.
Since then, 40,000 unwanted items have been collected from local households including furniture, bikes, fridges, freezers, washers and dryers to name but a few.
But what might be worthless to some has already proved valuable to others. Bulky Matters re-uses or recycles up to 65% of the items collected, thus helping local disadvantaged people furnish their homes or buy a new bike at a fraction of the price they would pay if buying new.
Items are collected on a day to suit you, with 90% of collections being completed within three working days of the customer making the booking. Bulky Matters staff are fully trained and CRB checked and will take items away from inside your home. Not having to leave items outside to await collection means they can be reused, instead of needlessly ending up in landfill.
The service costs £18 for up to three items and £6 per additional item thereafter. However, households receiving either council tax or housing benefit are eligible for a 50% discount.
You can book and pay for the service (by credit/debit card) over the telephone, by calling the council's Customer Services department on 01524 582491 or in person at Morecambe and Lancaster Town Halls between 9am and 5pm - Monday to Friday.
Let ‘Bulky Matters’ help you make space and someone else smile this Christmas.
