A Lancaster nightclub will not be able to sell alcohol or provide regulated entertainment between Monday March 23 and Sunday April 5 following a review of its premises licence by the police.
Representatives of Cuba, on Dalton Square in Lancaster, offered to voluntarily suspend its licence at a meeting of Lancaster City Council’s Licensing Act Sub-committee on February 10.
The request for the review came from the police following a number of breaches of conditions on the club’s premises licence.
These included offences under the Licensing Act 2003 of selling alcohol to under 18s and failing to display a premises licence.
Other issues flagged up by the police included crime and disorder being committed at the premises, including assaults, thefts and public order offences.
Members of the Licensing Act Sub-Committee agreed that a suspension of the licence was justified in the circumstances as it would act as a means of deterring the licence holder from allowing the problems that gave rise to the review from happening again.
