Budding journalists from Heysham High School have joined forces with Winning Back Morecambe’s West End to produce a community newsletter for Morecambe residents.
The February issue of the West End Bulletin has been written and edited by five talented 6th Form students. They have reported on the current regeneration taking place in the West End of Morecambe and on issues that are important to young people. In producing the newsletter, they have conducted interviews, taken photographs, and proof read material as well as liaising with graphic designers and printers.
Emma Jones, from Winning Back Morecambe’s West End, said: “The students have worked very hard to produce this newsletter and they have done a brilliant job. They thought about who their readers are and what they would like to read before coming up with story ideas. It has been a great work experience project for them which will help them in work or university interviews in the future.”
The newsletter will be delivered to several thousand properties and businesses in the West End of Morecambe and is also available on the internet at www.winningbackthewestend.co.uk.
