Swarb’s Lazarus will be performing at The Platform in Morecambe on Friday February 27 as part of their farewell tour.
Lazarus is a trio featuring the legendary English fiddler Dave Swarbrick, known affectionately as Swarb, ace guitarist Kevin Dempsey and multi instrumentalist Maartin Allcock. The band plays mostly traditional music of the British Isles.
Dave Swarbrick has been an important contributor to the folk and folk rock music scene since the 1960s and us best known as a member of Fairport Convention and later, Whippersnapper. In October 2004, Dave received a new pair of lungs after years of debilitating emphysema which left him at death’s door a few times. The double lung transplant operation has meant a return to form and a renewed zest to be out there playing music again.
Kevin Dempsey is a guitarist, singer and producer second to none. He has extensive experience in the music business, having worked with everyone from Percy Sledge to Dando Shaft and the Marvelettes to Alice Coltrane. He was also a member of Whippersnapper along with Dave Swarbrick and has produced albums for several leading artistes.
Former Fairport Convention member, Maartin Allcock, was also a member of Jethro Tull and later formed the acoustic trio WAZ! Where he played bass, bouzouki, guitar and sang.
In January this year, Lazarus decided that the time had come to move on to other things and announced that their final performance would be at the Priddy Fair in July. This date at The Platform is the last performance in the North of England planned at the time of writing. Don’t miss this last chance to see them!
The show will start at 8pm and tickets cost £14 adults, £13 concessions, from the Box Office on 01524 582803.
