Lancaster City Council is sad to announce the death of Honorary Alderman Arthur Briggs MBE.

Lancaster City Council is sad to announce the death of Honorary Alderman Arthur Briggs MBE.

Mr Briggs passed away on Monday (January 19) morning. He was 101.

He was elected to represent the Bolton-le-Sands ward in 1973 and served until 2003. Over the years he served on a number of committees and was mayor in 1987/88.

In the year 2000 he received an MBE in the New Year’s Honours and in 2003 he was invested as an Honorary Alderman in recognition of his work on Lancaster City Council.

The funeral service will take place at Lancaster Priory at 10.30am on Thursday 29 January, followed by private interment.
