Lancaster store to serve licensing suspension

Bargain Booze of 2-3 Lentworth House, Hala Square, Lancaster, was ordered to serve the suspension by a Licensing Act Sub-Committee in November last year following a review of its licence.
The review was requested by the police after the off licence was found to have sold alcohol to under 18s on three separate occasions.
The store appealed against the decision, meaning that the suspension could not be implemented straight away.
Lancaster City Council has now been informed that the appeal has been dropped so alcohol sales at the store will not be allowed on Saturday January 24 and Sunday January 25.
In addition to the suspension the store’s premises licence has been modified to contain the following conditions:
1. All staff will successfully complete training in age related products prior to commencing employment, refresher training will also be successfully completed not more than every 3 months, this will be fully documented and be available for inspection to a police officer or other authorised person.
2. A system of till prompts for all age related products will be installed at the premises and will be used during all transactions.
3. A personal licence holder shall normally be on the premises at all times during which intoxicating liquor is being sold or supplied to customers or consumed by customers, except in the case of an emergency.
