Dozens of fun activities on offer throughout the school holidays.

Lancaster City Council is giving local youngsters a fantastic reason to get up and out into the sunshine again this year with its Summer Playschemes and Holiday Activity Programme.

Playschemes

Playschemes take place at various sites throughout the district from 27 July to 21 August and are available Monday – Friday (10am – 4pm) for young people between the age of eight and 11 years old.

All those attending can take part in activities such as arts and crafts, sports and games as well as exciting trips from the following locations:

• Morecambe Youth and Community Centre, Morecambe
• Skerton St Lukes School, Lancaster
• Mossgate Primary School, Heysham
• Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School, Carnforth
• Barton Road Community Centre, Lancaster
• Ellel Primary School, Galgate
• Caton St Pauls School, Caton
• Warton Village Hall, Warton

Please note that not all of the venues are running for the whole four weeks.

Playschemes are free although donations are welcomed.

Places on the playschemes must be booked in advance. Alternatively, registration forms can be downloaded from the council’s website at www.lancaster.gov.uk/playschemes.

Summer Activity Programme

This year’s Summer Activity Programme is offering over 100 workshops to youngsters between the age of four and 16 years old. The programme runs from Monday 27 July – Friday 28 August and offers a wide range of exciting activities for different ages at different venues and times. New activities include gorge walking, wrestling, family bellboating, horseriding for the under 8s and bay walks. Some of the old favourites are still available including mountain and BMX biking, tennis, buggy driving, mountain boarding and many more.

A copy of the activity programme can be downloaded from www.lancaster.gov.uk/holidayprogramme or by calling Salt Ayre Sports Centre on 01524 842493.

You can also pick up a brochure from the tourist information centres, customer service centres at Lancaster and Morecambe Town Halls, Salt Ayre Sports Centre, the council’s community pools at Heysham, Hornby and Carnforth and local libraries.

Lancaster City Council is proud to be able to offer safe, accessible and affordable play. Parents can feel reassured that their children are having lots of fun whilst being cared for by trained staff.
