Cemeteries staff raise the Green Flag
Torrisholme Cemetery receive Green Flag
TORRISHOLME Cemetery is on a par with the country’s finest parks after receiving a sought after Green Flag for the second year running.
Green Flag awards recognise and reward the best parks in the country. Torrisholme Cemetery stood out after impressing the judges with excellent facilities including well managed green space, signage and amenities.
Steve Mann, who manages Lancaster City Council’s cemeteries, was presented with the award by the TV presenter Michaela Strachan at the official Green Flag awards ceremony on July 22.
Phil Barton chief executive, Keep Britain Tidy said: “I would like to congratulate this year’s winners, who have worked hard throughout the year to keep their parks and cemeteries to a high standard and ensure they are pleasant and enjoyable spaces for the whole community.”
Coun David Kerr, Cabinet Member for Health & Wellbeing said, “I would like to congratulate all the cemeteries staff and members of the Friends Group for all their hard work over the last year in maintaining the Green Flag standards.”
