Grab your bike and go far with the Twenty Club

Challenge yourself to a 20 mile cycle

Lancaster City Council’s Cycling Demonstration Town Team is calling upon cyclists with a taste for adventure to join the district's new Twenty Club.

The Twenty Club is an informal weekly meeting of local people who are wanting to experience a more challenging ride of around 20 miles.

Since the Twenty Club was launched in June this year, rides have seen up to 18 cyclists at a time travel as far away as Jubilee Tower and the Kellets .

Twenty Club member, Ian Robinson, said: "It's called a club, but it's more a fun, gathering of people who share a love of cycling and the urge to get a little exercise and explore the local area. Rides are well paced, there’s no competition and riders are never left behind. It's getting pretty popular too - as is the option of a post-ride drink."

Rides kick off at 6pm every Thursday evening from the Millennium Bridge, Lancaster.

Everyone is welcome to come along free of charge. However, those interested should note that rides are not guided. They are led by the group at a fairly fast pace and likely to involve hills and on-road cycling.

Although road bikes are not essential all bikes must be in good condition.
