Heysham St Peter's win final of the Home Safety Quiz

Children know how to be safe.
A team of four pupils from Heysham St Peter’s CofE Primary School won the 2009 final of Lancaster City Council’s Home Safety Quiz.
Forty two schools took part in this year’s heats and St Peter’s competed against teams representing Dallas Road, Bolton-le-Sands and Ellel St John’s primary schools in the final.
The four finalists were put through their paces with five rounds of challenging questions relating to home safety, accident prevention and first aid. The quiz culminated in an exciting quick fire buzzer round which saw St Peter’s come through as the winners.
The mayor, Coun Roger Sherlock awarded the winners with the Home Safety Quiz shield, £20 gift vouchers for the team members and a £75 cash prize for the school.
The Home Safety Quiz is a well established annual event which reaches more than 1,000 children across the district and is always met with enthusiasm and interest by teachers and pupils alike. The final is kindly sponsored by Lancaster Round Table.
