Visitor information centres score highly with mystery shoppers

Lancaster VIC
Visitors to the district are very impressed.
Visitor information centres in Lancaster and Morecambe have scored over 90% in a ‘mystery shopping’ exercise.
Carried out by the Northwest Development Agency, the mystery shopper tests the VIC staff with telephone calls, email messages and personal visits to identify weaknesses in customer service.
Lancaster VIC, now based in The Storey, came joint second with Blackpool with an overall score of 97.7%.
Morecambe VIC also did very well, scoring 90.3%.
Councillor Evelyn Archer, Cabinet Member with responsibility for tourism, said: “This again shows the professionalism and dedication of the staff in the visitor information centres. They handle over half a million enquiries every year and their range of knowledge and skills continues to surprise me.”
