WoW - great news for female cyclists!
Cycling newsletter for women on wheels
Lancaster City Council’s cycling team are putting the WoW factor into cycling with its first ever newsletter for ladies – Women on Wheels!
Cycling is an ideal activity for today's time-pressed women keen to keep healthy. Cycling to work, with the kids to school or to the shops means you exercise as part of your daily routine.
However research shows that there are far fewer women enjoying the benefits of bikes. According to government figures, in the UK only half as many women as men cycle, and women don’t tend to cycle as far.
This new eight page handy guide to cycling for women in the Lancaster District is full of information and advice to encourage more to give it a go.
It includes features on cycling and health, local profiles, what to wear, rides and events, top tips on how to get started and loads more.
Free copies of the first edition are available from customer service centres at Lancaster and Morecambe Town Halls, libraries and local cycle shops.
Alternatively, you can get hold of a copy by calling the council's Cycling Demonstration Town Team 01524 582392/582616, by emailing your request to celebratingcycling@lancaster.gov.uk or by downloading a copy from www.celebratingcycling.org/women.
