Learn how to become a lifeguard
Have you ever thought about taking the plunge and training to become a lifeguard?
If so then a training course from Lancaster City Council could be right up your street.
Heysham Community Swimming Pool is running a NaRS (National Rescue Standard) pool lifeguard course.
The qualification is approved by the Health and Safety Executive and is recognised at swimming pools around the UK.
The course will run for four weekends between 2.30pm and 8.30pm starting on June 27. The final session on July 19 will incorporate the examination leading to the NaRS qualification.
The cost of the course is £200 which includes the full course instruction, examination fees and course materials.
Places on the course are strictly limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis providing all candidates meet the specified course requirements, which include:
* Be at least 16 years of age
* Be able to surface dive and recover an item from the deepest part of the pool
* Be able to swim 50 metres in one minute.
