Snap up a prize in Lancaster City Council's photographic competition
Your chance to win a £50 voucher.
Lancaster City Council is challenging people to help it celebrate the centenary of Lancaster Town Hall and the Ashton Memorial by capturing the beauty of our district on camera.
This year both buildings celebrate their 100th birthdays and they have inspired the council to launch a competition to ask people to capture on camera their favourite buildings or places.
Whether you’re a semi-professional with a top of the range piece of kit or a keen amateur, if you can take a good photograph then the council wants to hear from you.
And the person who snaps the best pic will win a framed photo courtesy of Lee Metcalfe, who took the photo of the Lancaster Canal which graces the front cover of the latest edition of the city council’s residents’ magazine – Your District Council Matters.
In addition to having their photo used on the front cover of the winter edition of Your District Council Matters, the winner will be able to choose a photo from the online gallery on Lee’s website, www.leemetcalfelandscapephotography.com, to have framed as their prize.
If that wasn’t enough the winner will also receive a £50 voucher to spend at GL Robertson on Brock Street in Lancaster. The independent dealer is the oldest established business in Lancaster and has been serving the needs of photographers since 1839. It boasts one of the biggest ranges of photographic equipment around so there’s plenty to choose from.
GL Robertson has also given a £30 voucher to give to one runner-up.
To be in with a chance simply send your entry in jpeg format by email to communications@lancaster.gov.uk, or by post (as a print, on a floppy disc, CD or DVD) to Communications, Town Hall, Lancaster, LA1 1PJ.
With your photograph please tell us your name, address and a daytime telephone number, along with the location of your photo. It must be within the boundaries covered by Lancaster City Council and digital photos should be a minimum of 300 dpi.
Please note that we are unable to accept more than two images per person and we cannot return any photographs sent to us, so please retain your own copy.
The deadline for receipt of entries is August 14 2009 so take advantage of the summer sun and get snapping!
