The loves and laughs of Henry Blofeld - another evening with Blowers at The Platform

Henry Blofeld, one of Britian’s most celebrated cricket commentators and the doyen of Test Match Special, will return to The Platform in Morecambe with his brand new show ‘The Loves and Laughs of Henry Blofeld’ on Friday March 20.

Henry Blofeld, one of Britian’s most celebrated cricket commentators and the doyen of Test Match Special, will return to The Platform in Morecambe with his brand new show ‘The Loves and Laughs of Henry Blofeld’ on Friday March 20.

Famed as ‘The voice of cricket’ and one of the great characters of the game, Blowers, as he is affectionately known, is as renowned for his catchphrase ‘my dear old thing’ as he is for his musings on pigeons, double decker buses, planes, tea ladies and, of course, cakes, as he is for his commentating prowess.

This show is two hours of uncomplicated fun, with much leg pulling and Blowers will spend a good deal of time with no substantial amount of egg on his face.  He has danced his way vigorously with two hefty left feet from an irretrievably Edwardian upbringing by way of Eton and Cambridge, the City of London (briefly, but not briefly enough) to the Test Match Special Commentary Box.  There is scarcely a toe he has not trodden on along the way and many of them more than once.

The modern world in which we live will also come in for a bit of stick.  One or two of its most pernicious habits get kicked pretty firmly into touch – with a beaming smile, of course!

Blowers has met any number of famous names throughout the course of his career, Ian Fleming and Noel Coward being a couple and he invites you to come along and listen to his stories.

The show will start at 7.30pm and tickets cost £12.50 from the Box Office on 01524 582803.
