King of Comedy crowns Morecambe's sandcastle celebration!
Ken Dodd comes to The Platform.
Morecambe’s Platform venue is preparing to host one of its biggest shows ever, as the Ken Dodd Happiness Show comes to town.
This will be the King of Comedy’s first appearance at The Platform and marks his return to Morecambe after many years absence. Doddy performs on Sunday night, August 16, bringing to a close the two-day Morecambe Sandcastle Festival.
The Sandcastle Festival celebrates the recent recreation of the resort’s sandy beaches and encourages people to rediscover the simple pleasures of sandcastle building.
Europe’s top four professional sand sculptors will be on site, creating fantastic structures, using only sand and water. One of these will be an image of ‘Doddy’ himself!
In addition, there will be a sandcastle competition, with prizes, on the Sunday and Punch and Judy on both days.

The show starts at 7pm and is expected to finish around 11.30pm, but Ken’s shows have a reputation for going on, as arguably the UK’s greatest living entertainer, believes in giving value for money!
The 2009 Morecambe Bay Sandcastle Festival is produced by Lancaster City Council and supported by VolkerStevin. A free programme, giving further information will be available in July from Morecambe and Lancaster Visitor Information Centres and www.lancaster.gov.uk.
