The Manfreds - 'Let 'em roll' tour at The Platform
Top evening of entertainment on offer at The Platform.
The Manfreds will be performing many of their hits along with a mix of jazz and blues songs from some of their best known albums at The Platform on Saturday June 6.
Former front man Paul Jones, with his unique harmonica, will be joined by other original band members Mike Hugg on keyboards and Tom McGuinness on lead guitar with new members Rob Townsend on drums, Marcus Cliffe on bass guitar and Simon Currie on saxophone and flute. All are excellent musicians who will provide a full evening’s entertainment with a few ‘surprise’ renditions of their work, not only with The Manfreds, but with their individual connections.
The members of The Manfreds all had their roots in jazz and R’n B and over the years their individual musical accomplishments have gone from strength to strength. The calibre of the performers was always higher than their acquired pop status might indicate but they certainly knew how to produce a hit or six – in fact 15 UK Top Twenty singles, 3 of them number ones. After the Beatles and the Animals, they were the third band in the history of English rock to reach a number one position in America.
The original band disbanded in 1969 but after not having played their hits together for nearly a quarter of a century, an enjoyable reunion in 1991 found everything falling back into place.
Their live gigs burst with that quirky mix of solid pop, jazz and R ‘n B that was always their trade mark. Add a generous helping of showmanship and charisma and the result is a show as pleasing to the ears and eyes as it ever was.
Please note that this concert will be fully seated.
The show will start at 8pm and tickets cost £15 adults, £14 concessions, from the box office on 01524 582803.
