New refuse and recycling calendars
Waste collection dates for 2010.
Lancaster City Council will be delivering new refuse and recycling calendars to households throughout May and June.
For some residents the calendars include important changes to when their rubbish will be collected after January 2010, so please keep hold of your new calendar as these changes may affect you.
As well as providing information on collection days the new calendars also have information about what can and cannot go into the recycling boxes and garden waste bins.
Mark Davies, Head of City Council (Direct) Services, said: “In 2007/8 residents sent an amazing 30% of their waste for recycling and composting.
“This is an impressive figure given that just a few years ago less than 6% of waste was recycled. I’d like to personally thank all those residents who have helped us to reduce the amount of waste which goes to landfill.
“By using their green garden waste bins and recycling boxes for glass, cardboard, cans, paper and plastic bottles we hope residents will help us improve on this figure even further.”
The city council would like to remind residents that refuse bins and recycling boxes should be put out for collection no earlier than the evening of the day before collection and should be brought back into your property within 24 hours. Failure to do so may result in a Fixed Penalty Notice of £100.
