Pupils invited to design a logo for new award scheme

Primary school pupils are being challenged to design a logo for a new awards scheme.

Primary school pupils are being challenged to design a logo for a new awards scheme.

Linco Communications Ltd has teamed up with Lancaster City Council to develop an annual awards scheme for young people - the Walk the Talk Challenge Awards.

The awards now need a logo which can be used to publicise the awards and for use on all Walk the Talk literature and certificates.

The winner of the logo competition will receive a family ticket to Greenlands Farm Village and a ceramic trophy of their winning design as a prize.

Colin Carruthers, Managing Director of Lancaster-based telecoms company Linco Communications Ltd, said: “Children and creativity go together! Walk the Talk is aimed at embracing their ideas and creativity and therefore it is only right that the children of our district should be the one's designing the logo.”

Walk the Talk is an exciting new venture that will see local children leading and developing their own community projects.

Schools will have until the end of July to develop their project and put it into action and all the entries will be showcased at a special awards ceremony in September.

All schools involved will receive a small prize for taking part, provided by Lancaster City Council, and the project judged to be the best will win a £1,000 prize from Linco Communications.

Lynda Duff, Children and Young People’s Manager at Lancaster City Council, added: “We are very excited about working with Linco. Together we are providing an opportunity for young people to develop projects which connect them to their communities.”
