Getting up close to a butterfly at Williamson Park

Getting up close to a butterfly at Williamson Park

A new club is starting at Williamson Park for junior wildlife detectives.

Lancaster City Council is launching the brand new club this September, building on the new Junior Zoo Keeper courses that have attracted lots of interest.

The Wildlife Detective Club is for children aged 8 years old and over and will meet every Wednesday from September 22 from 4.30pm – 5.50pm and pre-booking is essential as places are limited. Each session costs £3 per child.

The club combines both the role of the zoo keeper and the park keeper’s role. It is an ideal opportunity for young nature lovers to experience what goes on behind the scenes at the park and what is involved in running a small zoo.

Each week there will be a chance to either feed animals or learn from the experienced staff about the woodland habitats, park maintenance and what is involved in caring for animals and butterflies.

For more information about the Junior Wildlife Detective Club or future Junior Zoo Keeper courses, please call Williamson Park on 01524 33318, send an email to williamsonpark@lancaster.gov.uk or visit www.lancaster.gov.uk/williamsonpark
