Sean Hughes

SEAN HUGHES, the youngest comic ever to win the Perrier Award for his Edinburgh Fringe debut in1990, will perform his brand new show `What I Meant To Say Was…` at the Platform on Friday 12 March 2010.

This new show is bursting at the seams with Sean`s darkly brilliant, self deprecating barbed wit that has kept him at the top of his game since his early success. The star of ITV`s `The Last Detective`, `Never Mind The Buzzcocks` on BBC and `Sean`s Show` on Channel 4, his dark explosive style and quick-fire audience banter have made his a household name that is not to be missed. He is the voice of `Finbar the Shark`, one of a number of plastic bath toys which come to life when no one is watching in the children`s TV series `Rubbadubbers` shown on the BBC`s CBeebies channel for pre-school children. Most recently he played the role of Sergeant Lake in the ITV Agatha Christie`s Marple production of `They Do It With Mirrors` which was broadcast on 1 January 2010.

As well as comedy and TV appearances, Sean has written collections of prose and poetry and worked on a number of films. He was a presenter of weekend radio shows for BBC GLR and in 2002 joined BBC 6 Music, presenting the Sunday morning programme. He has also written two novels.

The show will start at 8pm and tickets cost £15 from the Box Office on 01524 582803.
