Health on Wheels

DO you feel like you want to start a gentle exercise programme, get some fresh air and meet new people? Then join in Lancaster City Council’s new Health on Wheels exercise programme.

This free eight-week health campaign aims to introduce leisure cycling to people who suffer from health conditions including heart disease and diabetes. If you don’t have your own bike, you can loan one by prior arrangement.

Qualified cycle trainers will focus on fun and enjoyment whilst you build your confidence and fitness levels.

Cycling helps to maintain a healthy weight, develops muscle strength, co-ordination and mobility and improves health conditions. It can also help to reduce stress and increase your sense of well being.

Health on Wheels starts on Tuesday 9 March at 10am-12pm at Salt Ayre Sports Centre. It is free to join in but participants must be able to attend all eight weekly sessions.

Application forms etc can be downloaded at
www.celebratingcycling.org/healthonwheels

For more information or to organise loaning a bike or helmet, please contact Lancaster City Council’s Cycling Demonstration Town team on 01524 582392 or send an email to: celebratingcycling@lancaster.gov.uk.

More information on the sessions and other cycle rides and events can be found at www.celebratingcycling.org.
