Come and talk about Morecambe
Council officers will be in Morecambe this month to talk to residents and businesses about the Morecambe Area Action Plan.
The plan concerns the future of central Morecambe.
Following responses to the first phase of the consultation carried out earlier this year, the scope of the Area Action Plan and how the sustainability of the plan will be tested have now been decided.
As part of the second phase of consultation, the city council recently ran a successful programme of workshops with a number of local schools, where pupils from years five to 10 were invited to share their comments and ideas.
Pupils were invited to discuss places that they both liked and disliked about Morecambe and suggest how improvements could be made.
The council is now rolling out a series of drop in sessions to the general public and workshops covering some of the key issues raised to date, such as tourism and retail.
Drop in sessions will be held at the Platform entrance on Tuesday August 3, from 10am to 2pm, and in Morecambe Library on Tuesday August 10 from 2pm to 6pm.
These sessions will offer the general public an opportunity to talk to council officers about the plans for Morecambe’s future.
The officer led workshops will focus on how Morecambe as a town looks, works and feels.
Workshops will be held at the Platform on Thursday August 12, from 10am to 12pm and Monday August 16, from 2pm to 4pm, and Morecambe Town Hall on Tuesday 24 August, from 6pm to 7.30pm.
Registration is required for the workshops. Please book your place by 12pm Wednesday 11 August by contacting Justin Shaw on 01524 582375 or email morecambeaap@lancaster.gov.uk
There is also still time to comment on the first Morecambe Area Action Plan Topic Paper: Vision to Approach. This asks questions about the issues raised during the Capture Consultation, which asked people how they feel about Morecambe as it is today.
This is an opportunity for people to share their thoughts on what the Action Plan should help to achieve for Morecambe. To view and comment on this paper visit http://lancaster-consult.limehouse.co.uk/portal before Monday August 30.
