Help to change your world
Pledge to make a local journey by foot, bike, or public transport!
Did you know that right now in the UK two out of five local journeys are made by foot, bike and public transport? Sustrans wants to see this double to four out of five.
You can help by supporting the Change Your World campaign. Between 1 June and 4 July, Sustrans are asking you to pledge to make one of your local journeys by foot, bike and public transport and hope to get enough journeys to complete a virtual route around the world (24,900 miles).
Lancaster City Council has set a challenge to staff to walk, cycle or get public transport to work on Thursday, 17 June (Green Britain Day) – maybe your workplace could do the same.
By making more journeys without the car, you’ll be helping to make a little change in the world – less car traffic, cleaner air and quieter streets.
From 1 June 2010, simply visit www.changeyourworld.org.uk and sign up to pledge your local journey, or complete a Change Your World postcard.
There are some great prizes up for grabs for taking part, including a holiday at Center Parcs.
