Celebrate Lancaster City Council’s new tourism website

LANCASTER City Council will be unveiling its new look tourism website during British Tourism Week (March 15 to 21).

Now in its fourth year and backed by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, this national event aims to raise awareness of the size, value and importance of Britain’s £74 billion visitor economy.

The council is aiming to increase the number of tourists coming to our district with the help of a new look tourism website (www.citycoastcountryside.co.uk), which will be launched at Lancaster Visitor Information Centre on Friday March 19 at 11am.

The website has been developed in association with the Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board and has been specially designed to appeal to people living outside the district.

It highlights places to stay and visit, with comprehensive listings information on attractions, accommodation, events and places to eat.

Visitors to the site can find out about quality inspected accommodation from self-catering to hotels and guest houses.

Lancaster VIC is also celebrating its first anniversary of moving into the Storey Centre for Creative Industries.

As well as promoting the Lancaster district’s unique offer of City, Coast and Countryside, it acts as a regional ‘hub’ for the tourist industry promoting destinations across the North West.

In addition to providing holiday guides and information on tourist destinations, the VIC also provides a wealth of other services including accommodation bookings and a great range of contemporary merchandise.

Morecambe VIC will also celebrate British Tourism Week with a visit from the town’s MP, Geraldine Smith. Come and enjoy a cup of Lancashire tea with her from 2pm on March 19.

For more information about events, accommodation or attractions in our district, visit www.citycoastcountryside.co.uk, or contact either Lancaster VIC on 382849 or Morecambe VIC on 01524 582808.
