Children's Easter holiday cycling courses

Children can brush up on their cycling skills this Easter
LANCASTER City Council is inviting youngsters to brush up on their cycling skills during the Easter school holidays with a range of fun training sessions for all ages.
Learn to Cycle
Due to popular demand, the council is providing Learn to Cycle sessions aimed at children aged four and over who use stabilisers or cannot yet ride, pedals (and stabilisers) are removed from the bikes so that the children can learn to balance before they progress to pedalling. Children should bring along a roadworthy bike. All participants under age eight must be accompanied by an adult who may also be asked to assist. Courses take place on Tuesday 6 April, Thursday 8 April, Wednesday 14 April and Friday 16 April.
Cycle Skills
Five to nine year olds will be able to brush up on their cycle skills with off-road fun sessions catering for all abilities. An adult must accompany children under the age of eight. This course takes place on Tuesday 13 April.
Bikeability
Nine to 16 year olds are invited to take part in “Cycling Proficiency for the 21st Century”.
Cycling is healthy and fun but it's best to learn how to do it safely. This course takes place at Salt Ayre Sports Centre and on local roads. Children must attend this training on all 4 days.
Tuesday 6 - Friday 9 April: 10am - 12pm
Monday 12 - Thursday 15 April: 10am - 12pm
Monday 12 - Thursday 15 April: 1 - 3pm
On Friday 16 April there will be a ride to a local cafe for all those who taken part over the 2 weeks. Parents, grandparents, carers etc are all most welcome to join in. Please bring a roadworthy bike, suitable outdoor clothes and money for the café. Meet at Salt Ayre Sports Centre.
All cycling courses take place at Salt Ayre Sports Centre (meet at reception) and cost £6. Please make sure that you bring a roadworthy bike and suitable clothes for being outdoors.
Places can be booked and paid for at Salt Ayre Sports Centre, Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm (7pm on Wednesdays) or by contacting the booking information line on 01524 842493, between the same times. Booking opens March 15th 2010.
