THE Man Who Cycled The World is the remarkable story of adventurer Mark Beaumont. In 2008 he broke the world record for cycling solo around the world, an epic journey of over 18,000 miles, cycling 100 miles per day for over half a year.

In 2009, Mark set out on his second ultra-endurance solo challenge, to cycle the length of the American Cordillera.

On this 15,000 mile expedition Mark not only cycled down the longest mountain range on the planet but also climbed the continent`s two highest peaks, Mount McKinley in Alaska and Aconcagua in Argentina, making his second self-filmed documentary for BBC1 – Cycling The Americas.

This is Mark's story of his adventures, a personal rollercoaster of mental and physical endurance as well as a fascinating insight into the world we live in.

Mark hopes to give the audience an insight into his epic journeys, where he faced hostile encounters on the border lands of the Helmand Province, monsoon rains in South East Asia and an unrelenting headwind for 3,500 miles across the desolate Australian outback.

Despite being mugged in Louisiana, locked up by police in Pakistan and nearly washed away by rains in Thailand, as well as being knocked off his bike three times, Mark says he never felt like giving up.

With a thirst for adventure from an early age (Mark cycled from John O'Groats to Land's End at the age of just 15), Mark's story is a captivating tale of where life can take you if you are determined.

Mark will be presenting his show at The Platform in Morecambe on Saturday March 20, starting at 8pm. Tickets cost £13 from the box office on 01524 582803 or from Lancaster and Morecambe Visitor Information Centres.
