City and county work in partnership to put the needs of their customers first
City and county councils working together to improve access to key services.
Lancaster City Council is working in partnership with Lancashire County Council to provide their customers with access to a wider range of services under one roof.
Staff from Lancashire County Council are now available to deal with enquiries from the city council's customer service centres at Lancaster and Morecambe town halls.
Working in partnership with Lancashire County Council in this way will mean that the reporting of highways issues and enquiries about NOWcards and Blue Badges and other services can now be dealt with face-to-face as an alternative to phoning county offices in Preston and Accrington.
Staff will be available to deal with county enquiries at the centres between the following times:
- Lancaster Town Hall – Monday and Tuesday (9.15am – 4.30pm) and Wednesday (9.15am - 12pm)
- Morecambe Town Hall – Wednesday (12pm - 4.30pm), Thursday and Friday (9.15am - 4.30pm)
Mark Cullinan, Lancaster City Council’s Chief Executive said: 'One of Lancaster City Council's key priorities is to ensure that the services we provide are delivered in a way that suits our customers.
'The integration of county council services into our customer service centres is a clear demonstration of how we are continuing to develop opportunities that would see the Lancaster district benefit from joint working with partner organisations. Improving access to services provided by both ourselves and other organisations also shows the council’s commitment to improving access to the services that are important to them.”
The customer service centres are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and deal with enquiries about household waste collections, bulky waste, missed bins, fly posting, fly tipping, public toilets, litter bins, abandoned vehicles, street cleansing, planning and licensing. Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit enquiries are also dealt with at both centres.
Lancaster City Council are keen to ensure customers are happy with the level of service provided at the centres. If you have any comments you would like to make on how further improvements can be made, please contact the council on 01524 582000 or email customerservices@lancaster.gov.uk
