New swimming sessions at Carnforth Community Pool.
Lancaster City Council is now offering ante-natal classes and sessions for disabled and convalescent swimmers.
From Tuesday, October 5, new antenatal classes will take place each week from noon until 1pm and take women at all stages of pregnancy through a variety of exercises that will improve flexibility, boost circulation and improve relaxation techniques as they prepare their body for giving birth.
The cost of each ante-natal session is just £3.20.
Recent improvements carried out by Lancashire County Council which included the provision of a disabled changing room and a pool hoist, also mean that the pool can now be enjoyed by more people than ever before.
Jean Lowther, manager of Carnforth Pool said: “Swimming is a brilliant form of exercise for anyone looking for a gentle relaxing workout. Regular swimming builds cardiovascular fitness without overworking your heart and unlike other forms of exercise, allows you to exercise as many muscles as you want.
“That’s why swimming is the ideal choice for those suffering any form of disability including cerebral palsy, diabetes, asthma or those recovering from a heart attack or a stroke.”
From October 5, these sessions will take place every Tuesday evening from 6pm to 7pm.
The cost of each session is £3.20 adults, £2.20 senior citizens and children £1.80 (carers admitted free of charge).
