Peter Donegan and the Lonnie Donegan Band
Peter Donegan, son of the late Lonnie Donegan, will be performing at The Platform in Morecambe on Saturday September 25 with the Lonnie Donegan Band.
It's easy to see why Peter Donegan is such a talent. To work alongside a hugely successful father and mentor who influenced the likes of The Beatles and Elvis Presley and was highly rated by his peers has to be the best apprenticeship anyone could wish for. That person was, of course, the great Lonnie Donegan.
Peter was a member of the Lonnie Donegan Band where he played acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin, harmonica and piano and since his father’s death, has taken over as ‘front man’ and also sings lead vocals. He has inherited his father’s charm and ability to deliver a fantastic live show and promises a great night of skiffle, blues, jazz and lots of foot stomping fun!
Peter’s voice is likened to his father’s on songs such as ‘Rock Island Line’, ‘Putting on the Style’, ‘Pick A Bale of Cotton’ to name but a few, but equally, Peter settles well into the country rock and blues numbers which form a big part of his show. His passion for music shows and sometimes there’s a glimpse of Lonnie for all to see, but Peter stands in no one’s shadow. He also writes his own material and has recently released an album entitled ‘Here We Go Again’.
The show will start at 7.30pm and tickets cost £14 adults, £12 concessions. Ring the box office on 01524 582803 or call at Lancaster or Morecambe Visitor Information Centres.
