Skerton and Carnforth primary school children lead the way

Young Leader Awards at Carnforth North Road
More than 39 children from Skerton St Luke’s and Carnforth North Road primary schools are set to put the fun back into dinnertimes after completing Young Leader Award training delivered by Lancaster City Council.
The pupils undertook the 10 hour course which is designed to help young children aged from 9 to 13 deliver structured activities to younger children within their school.
The children who passed the award now have the opportunity to implement their new found skills by organising, planning and delivering games and activities for the younger children at their schools in years 1, 2 and 3. These games and activities help the lunch time assistants deliver safe, fun and active sessions and encourage the younger children to participate in a more structured activity during their lunch break.

Skerton St. Lukes - Young Leader Awards
The course is approved by Sports Leaders UK and all the children that completed the training received a certificate.
Any schools wanting more information on how their pupils can benefit from the award should contact the council on 01524 582778.
