Temporary change of address for Lancaster Visitor Information Centre
Lancaster Visitor Information has temporarily changed address to Lancaster Library.
This follows the city council’s withdrawal of support to the Storey Creative Industries Centre and uncertainty over the future of the company and its tenants.
In addition to being the landlord of the Storey Institute, Lancaster City Council is also a tenant of the Storey Creative Industries Centre Ltd (SCIC) for its Visitor Information Centre.
It is unclear for how long the building will remain open due to the very recent developments regarding the company’s operations and its financial position.
It has already been considered by the Board of the SCIC Ltd that the SCIC may have to close, which would lead to uncertainty over the ability for the VIC to continue.
As we head into the busiest part of the year it is important that visitor information is fully available with the least interruption.
The council therefore took the prudent decision that, in order to keep the VIC’s services open and ensure a seamless transition, that it should be relocated for the timebeing to the Heritage Room at Lancaster Library.
This took place on Thursday afternoon. Lancaster VIC is up and running and providing visitor information in Lancaster Library, in addition to answering telephone and email enquiries.
