Visitor Award for Williamson Park, Lancaster

Williamson Park Visitor Award
Williamson Park has been successful in obtaining a 'Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme' accreditation from VisitEngland which rates the park as an ‘excellent’ visitor attraction.
The park has scored highly on a recent inspection visit and can now proudly display the ‘red rose’ quality badge.
On his recent inspection, Assessor, Chris Vere said: “The outstanding landscaping of the 54 acres of parkland, with lakes, views and walks around the eye-catching Ashton Memorial and the exotic butterflies make this a memorable attraction.
“Interpretation signage and maps is still amongst the best in the region.” He added: “Williamson Park and the Butterfly House offered an excellent overall visitor experience. The City of Lancaster is fortunate to have such a diverse site.”
Williamson Park Operations Manager, Will Griffith, said: “Receiving recognition from England’s leading tourism body is an outstanding achievement. The assessment also included ‘mystery shopping’ exercises to test the level of customer service and the feedback has been excellent. We have been given a few pointers where we can improve and plan on implementing some changes so that all the facilities will exceed visitor expectations in the future.”
Williamson Park is open all year round except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. Current opening times are 10am-4pm until March. The park is free to enter with a small entry fee to access the Butterfly House and Mini Beast Cave and a donation to enter the Ashton Memorial.
The park has also proved to be a great location for school trips and birthday parties.
There are events all year round with plenty to do over half term.
Arrangements are currently underway for the popular Christmas Carol Concert series starting on Friday 14 December – Friday 21 December.
