Don’t miss out on having your say!

Lancaster City Council is now one week into a major consultation on a new Local Plan for the district.

Lancaster City Council is now one week into a major consultation on a new Local Plan for the district.

The Local Plan will allocate land to meet the district’s housing and commercial needs; protect land that is environmentally, socially and economically valuable; and set out a series of planning policies which will manage future proposals for all types of development across the district. The Local Plan also includes proposals for the regeneration of Central Morecambe via the Morecambe Area Action Plan.

You can view hard copies of the Local Plan documents at Lancaster and Morecambe town halls, Lancaster University, University of Cumbria, Lancaster and Morecambe College as well as all public libraries across the district during normal opening hours.

The council wants to make sure everyone has the chance to view the Local Plan documents and can have their say on shaping the future of the district. If there is more the council can do then we want to hear from you!

The consultation runs through to Friday, December 14, and more than 1,000 people have already visited www.lancaster.gov.uk/planningpolicy to view the documents.

The council has also distributed a dedicated leaflet to the majority of households within the district which provides details on the Local Plan will be and how residents can get involved. Details were also provided in the latest version of the council's magazine – Your District Council Matters which will also be distributed to every household in the district this week.

As part of the consultation council officers will also appear at various locations across the district giving you the opportunity to discuss the Local Plan and how it may impact on your area.
