Mossgate children to benefit from Young Leader Awards
Mossgate children win Young Leaders Award training
More than 13 children from Mossgate Primary School are set to put the fun back into dinnertimes after completing Young Leader Award training delivered by Lancaster City Council.
The pupils undertook the 10 hour course which is designed to help young children aged from 9 to 13 deliver structured activities to younger children within their school.
The children who passed the award now have the opportunity to implement their new found skills by organising, planning and delivering games and activities for the younger children at their schools in years 1, 2 and 3. These games and activities help the lunch time assistants to deliver safe, fun and active sessions and encourages the younger children to participate in a more structured activity during their lunch break.
The course is approved by Sports Leaders UK and all the children that completed the training received a certificate. The school also received a Young Leaders starter bag of sports equipment donated by Lancaster City Council. The bag contains all the basic sports equipment needed to get the Young Leaders started including bibs, cones and a variety of sponge balls.
Any schools wanting more information on how their pupils can benefit from the award should contact the council on 01524 582778.
