Contaminated Land In the Lancaster City Council district there are sites which have been contaminated by previous industrial use, often associated with traditional processes which are now obsolete, which may present a hazard to the general environment, but for which there is a growing requirement for reclamation and redevelopment.

Drains and Sewers If your drain or gully has been damaged or has become blocked you are usually aware of this for a variety of reasons, such as a backing up toilet, overflowing drains or foul smells in the area around the drains.

Industrial Pollution Control This is an environmental licensing system for regulating pollution control in certain industrial and commercial processes.

Noise The City Council takes problems of noise seriously and it has a range of duties and legal powers which can help.

Odour Many people are temporarily troubled by unpleasant smells from time to time, especially living in rural communities. If the smell does not go on for long periods or is not too unpleasant, there is not a lot that we can do. However if the smell is very unpleasant or lasts for long periods of time, occurring on a regular basis the council may be able to help.

Radiation and Radioactivity We encounter radiation and radioactivity every day. Most of this is from natural sources and is harmless.
