In March 2007, Lancashire County Council, Blackpool Council and Global Renewables Lancashire Ltd, signed a ground breaking 25-year sustainable waste management contract to reduce, reuse and recycle the household waste of 1.4m people in Lancashire. Included in this contract is the provision of free environmental education to every KS2 (7-11 year old) pupil in Lancashire.
This three stage programme encourages pupils to be the driving force behind the sustainable ethos of their school. We provide memorable learning activities and experiences which equip them with greater knowledge and awareness of the environmental impact of waste on Lancashire and our planet. By challenging attitudes and behaviours, pupils will be guided and encouraged to consider what actions they could take to make a positive difference in the future. All activities are cross curricular and support delivery of the National Curriculum.

Recycling Collections for Schools
Lancaster City Council can provide schools with a recycling collection. Materials that be collected for recycling include:
- Paper
- Cardboard
- Plastic bottles
- Glass
- Cans

Recycling talks and activities are suitable for primary school aged children. Activities can include paper making, glass painting and model making.
