Revenue Services have direct contact with every household and business in the City Council area.
We have over 58,000 domestic properties and almost 5,000 business properties (as at 31 March 2002) and employ 97 staff to administer the collection and enforcement of local taxes, and to process and verify Housing Benefit claims.
As a service we produce over 80,000 Council Tax and 7,000 Business Rate bills each year and handle more than 375,000 payment transactions.
We pay Benefit to more than 30,000 claimants in a financial year and receive over 150,000 telephone calls. Related correspondence exceeds 130,000 items per year.
