Lancaster's bustling Charter Market can be found in the heart of the historic city centre every Wednesday and Saturday. Enjoy the hustle and bustle of a traditional outdoor market and the aromas of freshly cooked food as you meander through more than 40 stalls selling a wide selection of items.
Situated within walking distance of the city's historic and cultural attractions including Lancaster Castle, several museums, theatres and two main shopping centres, the Charter Market provides a great start to planning a great day out in Lancaster.
From local produce to international cuisine, fresh fruit and vegetables to plants and flowers, jewellery and clothing to arts and crafts. There is also a wide variety of unique gifts for all occasions. You're sure to pick up something special at the Charter Market.
Current stalls include World foods, vegetarian and vegan food, fresh fish, fruit and vegetables, artisan and French bakeries, secondhand books, comics and vinyl, pet supplies, militaria, jewellry and craft supplies.
Every Wednesday and Saturday from 9am to at least 4.30pm (4pm in winter) – some stalls trade later.

How to find us
Location: The Charter Market is centred on Market Square, Market Street and Cheapside (LA1 1XD).
By car: Leave the M6 at junction 33 or 34 and follow the signs for Lancaster city centre. There are a number of car parks close by.
By bus: Any bus to Lancaster bus station or Common Garden Street will drop you off just a couple of minutes walk away from the Charter Market.
By train: Lancaster's mainline train station is only a five minute walk away. From the station, head straight down the hill leading into the city centre.
