Lancaster's bustling Charter Market can be found in the heart of Lancaster's historic city centre every Wednesday and Saturday.  Enjoy the hustle and bustle of a traditional outdoor market and the aromas of freshly cooked food as you meander through more than 40 stalls selling a wide selection of items.

Situated within walking distance of the city's historic and cultural attractions including Lancaster Castle, several museums, theatres and two main shopping centres, the Charter Market provides a great start to planning a great day out in Lancaster.

From local produce to international cuisine, fresh fruit and vegetables to plants and flowers, jewellery and clothing to arts and crafts.  There is also a wide variety of unique gifts for all occasions.  You're sure to pick up something special at Lancaster's historic Charter Market.

Every Wednesday and Saturday from 9am - 4.30pm (4pm in winter).


How to find us

Location:  The Charter Market is centred on Market Square, Market Street and Cheapside (LA1 1XD).

By car:  Leave the M6 at junction 33 or 34 and follow the signs for Lancaster city centre. There are a number of car parks close by.

By bus:  Any bus to Lancaster bus station or Common Garden Street will drop you off just a couple of minutes walk away from the Charter Market.

By train:  Lancaster's mainline train station is only a five minute walk away.  From the station, head straight down the hill leading into the city centre.
