With over a hundred stalls selling an enormous selection of products, some that you would expect to find in a market, others unique to us, you are sure to find what you are looking for. There are two welcoming cafes serving homemade meals and cakes and onsite public toilets.
Shoppers can be certain to find a warm welcome from the established stall holders at this traditional market and if you happen to be visiting one of the special events hosted by the market, the atmosphere will be even better.
A trip to the market is ideal for visitors wanting to experience all that Morecambe has to offer. Within walking distance are some wonderful iconic buildings including the famous art deco Midland Hotel and the Winter Gardens. The promenade offers 5 miles of wonderful scenery with interesting features along the way such as artwork and sculptures, a stone jetty, award-winning flower beds and the world famous Eric Morecambe statue – bring your cameras to recreate that famous pose.
The Festival Market is easily accessible by train, bus, bike and car. There are large adjoining car parks, and Morecambe train station and bus station are close by.
The market is wheelchair friendly.
The market is open Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm (4.30pm winter) and all Bank Holidays from Easter to August.
A Magical Christmas - Sunday 26th November - 10am - 4pm
Later this month we are hosting a Christmas celebration with all the seasonal trimmings along with a decent sprinkling of magic.
Guaranteed to get your Christmas shopping off to a fabulous festive start, there'll be additional stalls selling unique gifts and stocking fillers, festive fayre and competitions including charity mince pie and biscuit bake off (PDF, 369KB). The bake off will be judged by special guest, the Mayor and open to two age groups. The mince pies and biscuits can then be sold and proceeds donated to one of the Mayor's charities - the Morecambe Branch of the RNLI.
To set the traditional Christmas scene there will be brass bands playing seasonal tunes and other attractions.
Meet the market’s very own Hedwig, look out for the Elf on the Shelf or take part in the world of magic treasure hunt to win some fabulous prizes. Enter into the spirit and turn up to the market dressed as a wizard or witch and you could be in with a chance of winning a mystery spot prize.
The Elf on the Shelf competition will run until December 23. Everyone is invited to come along to the market to try and find him getting up to mischief at different locations every day. Take an ’elfie’ with him and post it on the market’s Facebook page to be in with a chance of winning a prize. A winner will be chosen at random every Sunday until Christmas and announced on the facebook page.
Forms for the magical treasure hunt will be available from the Market Office on the day.
Santa will be arriving in his sleigh at 11am on the day for the grand opening of his grotto. For just £2.50, children will be able to visit Father Christmas as soon as he has settled in and receive a special gift.
The Grotto will be open every weekend until Christmas.
As from 26th November, you’ll also be able to enjoy parking for free on the council’s pay and display car parks next to the market every Sunday until Christmas.
