Public Art in the West End

Tristan Surtees and Charles Blanc of Sans Facon
The Public Art and Regeneration Officer worked with the West End Public Art Steering Group and artists Sans facon to develop a plan for public art in the West End of Morecambe.
If funding can be raised to deliver the project, it is hoped that local artists will work alongside Sans facon, learning more about the process of delivering projects in the public realm.
About the artists
Sans facon (which means 'without unnecessary ceremony') began as an investigation between French architect Charles Blanc and British artist Tristan Surtees, and has developed into an ongoing collaboration through an art practice.
They are based in Glasgow and undertake diverse projects, both temporary and permanent, predominantly exploring the complex relationship between people and 'place'. They see the role of the artist and art as a catalyst in a process of raising questions and inviting one to look and think differently about a place, hoping to create an opportunity rather than an inanimate object.
