The Storey public art commission

Concept design for Storey exterior by Tod Hanson
Lancaster City Council's Public Art and Regeneration Officer worked with The Storey Creative Industries Centre on a public art commission for The Storey on Meeting House Lane in Lancaster. The artist, Tod Hanson, was selected through an open competition from more than a hundred applicants, and developed his designs over the summer of 2008.
Tod will be designing a wall-based work for the interior lobby. It is hoped this piece will be completed by June 2010.
About the artist
Tod Hanson is a visual artist who has completed site-specific commissions at Victoria Baths in Manchester, The Big Chill festival and various permanent commissions, including an exterior mural at a school in Bristol.
Artist statement:
I'm interested in a world over-amplified and speeding up, the visual razzmatazz of a globalising culture, the delirium of excessive production and waste, the exponential curve of history, as we hover on the apex of the old civilisation's history.
